Fine weather today and I started with another slog up the Joux Plane. What was I saying about roadies the other day? I take it all back. After about the 20th girl-boy example went flying past me I felt a bit stupid taking the full suss up with wheels where you can just hear the friction. The old man and Les were on their road bikes, so they had to wait for 10mins (or so...) on top for me to catch up, and by then they were cold and immediately whizzed back down to afternoon beers. I stayed high and rode along the ridge to Col du Ranfolly; checked the chair was working, then gave the Chavannes down hill course a blast into Les Gets. Man this is so over-rated it's unbelievable, and full of over weight unimaginative Englishmen on expensive bikes. I planed a couple of runs but was so unimpressed I bought the single ticket back up to the ridge and headed for more interesting trails. So back to the Col de Joux Plane and a fine single track up to the summit of La Bourgeoise (1770m), overlooking Samoens. The descent from here down the ridge is FUCKING AWSOME - with the view over to the Mont Blanc range and fast technical trail it's one of the best I've done since, well, Tegernsee last week;-) A thousand times better than Les Chavannes and how many other bikers did I see? Zero. While the upper section is the best, the lower half also has fast single track and roller coaster jumps:-) Finish point was Bar Aspen and a cold beer whilst taking in the scenery;-)
